Rodolpho Leoni wurde 1963 in Campo Grande ( Brasilien ) geboren, begann dort 1978 sein Tanzstudium und gründete 1981 gemeinsam mit elf weiteren Tänzern die erste Kompanie für modernen Tanz in dieser Region.
1983 ging er nach São Paulo, um die Graham-Technik zu studieren, und tanzte in den folgenden zwei Jahren im Teatro Brasileiro de Danca.
