In den drei Instituten der DGUV beschäftigen sich rund 500 Mitarbeiter mit den Ursachen von Arbeitsunfällen, Wegeunfällen, Berufskrankheiten und arbeitsbedingten Gesundheitsgefahren und vor allem mit deren Verhütung.
Dazu gehören klassische Arbeitsschutzthemen wie der Lärmschutz, Gefahrstoffe, Maschinensicherheit, Ergonomie und Arbeitsmedizin, aber auch neue Themenfelder wie psychische Belastungen und Arbeitsorganisation.
Mit ihrer Arbeit unterstützen die Institute Berufsgenossenschaften und Unfallkassen in ihrem gesetzlichen Auftrag, die Prävention am Arbeitsplatz und in der Schule mit allen geeigneten Mitteln zu fördern.
