In den letzten Jahrzehnten sind die Anforderungen an die Kraftfahrzeuge in den Bereichen Sicherheit, Komfort und der Wirtschaftlichkeit erheblich gestiegen.
So gewinnen immer mehr elektronische Regelsysteme ( z.B. ABS, ASR, ABC, ES … ) an Bedeutung, die allerdings eine exakte Kenntnis des Fahrzeugs zu jedem Zeitpunkt, wie beispielsweise die komplizierten Wechselwirkungen zwischen Fahrzeug und Fahrbahn, voraussetzen.
Aus diesem Grund gibt es am MZH eine Reihe von Projekten, die sich mit diesem Technologiezweig und einer damit verbundenen Synthese der Fachgebiete Elektrotechnik, Maschinenbau und Informatik beschäftigen.
