Diese Thesen gab Cobbe gemeinsam mit Prof. Stanley Wells, dem bekannten Chairman des Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Anfang März 2009 in einer spektakulären weltweiten Medienkampagne bekannt.
Wells stellte sich voll und ganz hinter Cobbe, bestätigte dessen Annahmen und kündigte die Eröffnung einer Ausstellung des Cobbe-Porträts, mehrerer seiner Kopien sowie die Publikation eines Buches in Stratford-upon-Avon an, und zwar am 23. April 2009, dem Geburts- und Todestag Shakespeares.

Wells put his weight fully behind Cobbe, confirming the latter’s assumptions and announcing an exhibition of the Cobbe portrait and copies of it, due to open in Stratford-upon-Avon on 23 April 2009 - the day of Shakespeare’s birth and death - accompanied by a book launch.
