Er war seit 1909 verheiratet und hatte zwei in Bludenz geborene Töchter, Gerda und Ilse.
Nach dem Tod seiner Frau Hilde Klein, einer Prager Jüdin, heiratete er im Magistrat der Stadt Salzburg eine Katholikin (eine interreligiöse Ehe).
Bis November 1938 wohnte die Familie im Haus Josef-Mayburger-Kai 8.
