Zudem lehrt er seit sechs bzw. sieben Jahren im berufsbegleitenden MA-Studiengang Organisations- und Personalentwicklung der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg und im berufsbegleitenden MA-Studiengang Bildungsmanagement der Universität Oldenburg.
Von 1999 bis 2010 war er Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Berufs- und Arbeitspädagogik an der Helmut-Schmidt-Universität Hamburg.
Zuvor jahrelange Tätigkeit in der Industrie und an verschiedenen Bildungsinstitutionen, u. a. am Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung ( BiBB ).
