Neben der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife (Abitur) berechtigt die fachgebundene Hochschulreife einer Berufsoberschule (BOS) und einer Fachoberschule (FOS 13) - beide in Verbindung mit einer zweiten Fremdsprache - zu einem Studium an der Universität.
Personen, die keine Hochschulreife besitzen (z.B. FOS 12), erlangen diese automatisch durch das bestandene Vordiplom bzw. den Bachelor-Abschluß an einer Fachhochschule.
