Der promovierte Chemiker war von 1992 bis 1994 Mitglied in der Enquete-Kommission „ Schutz des Menschen und der Umwelt – Wege zum nachhaltigen Umgang mit Stoff- und Materialströmen “ des Deutschen Bundestages .
Von 2004 bis 2008 war er Mitglied des Wissenschaftlichen Beirats der Bundesregierung „Globale Umweltveränderungen“ (WBGU) sowie Mitglied des Wissenschaftlichen Beirats „Verbraucher- und Ernährungspolitik“ des Bundesministeriums für Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz.

He holds a doctorate in chemistry and from 1992 to 1994 was a member of the Enquete Commission of the German Parliament (Bundestag) on the “Protection of Man and the Environment – Options for sustainable management of substance chains and material flows”.
From 2004 to 2008 Grießhammer was a member of the German Advisory Council on Global Environmental Change (WBGU) and of the Advisory Board of German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection on "Consumer and Food Policy”.

Zuvor war die Diplom-Ingenieurin der Chemie als technische Angestellte im Umweltbundesamt tätig . Dort arbeitete sie unter anderem in der Enquete-Kommission des Deutschen Bundestags „ Schutz des Menschen und der Umwelt “ mit und leitete verschiedene Projekte .

A chemical engineer, she previously worked as technical assistant at the German Federal Environment Agency UBA, where, among other things, she contributed to the Enquete Commission of the German Bundestag on the "Protection of Humanity and the Environment" and headed a range of projects.
