Anlässlich seines Jubiläums hat das Österreichische Filmmuseum einen abendfüllenden Film initiiert :
Der Autor, Regisseur, Schnittmeister und Sound Designer Michael Palm – zuletzt mit seinem herausragenden Low Definition Control weithin gefeiert – realisiert 2014 an zahlreichen internationalen Drehorten den Essayfilm Cinema Futures, eine vielschichtige Reflexion über die Zukunft des Kinos und des Films in der Ära digitaler Laufbilder.
In einer Zeit des rapiden Verschwindens analoger Bild- und Ton- Medien und der flächendeckenden Digitalisierung der Kino- und TV-Landschaft droht ein massiver Verlust des audiovisuellen Gedächtnisses.
