Von 2000 bis 2004 war Marco Höhn als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Fachgebiet Medienmanagement am Institut für Medien- und Kommunikationswissenschaft der TU Ilmenau beschäftigt.
Zuvor hat er an der Universität Trier ein Diplom-Studium der Soziologie (mit einem Schwerpunkt in Medien- und Konsumsoziologie sowie Marketing) absolviert.
Während des Studiums war er im Film- und Fernsehbereich (u.a. bei RTL 2, VH-1, RTL und X-Act), als freiberuflicher Dozent sowie als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft in einigen jugendsoziologischen Forschungsprojekten tätig.
