By 1972, Hildebrandt's dry and clear-sighted political commentary had so wormed its way into the narrow-minded German sense of humour that the television channel ZDF started to broadcast the very first regular satirical programme on Germany television and docked it onto the political programme, Notizen aus der Provinz.
