For publication in the series of DIW discussion papers the following may be submitted :
Papers by DIW employees, DIW research professors and directors, DIW research affiliates and guest scientists who have spent at least one week at DIW Berlin and thank DIW Berlin in a footnote.
Papers submitted will be sent in electronic form to the head of the relevant department at DIW Berlin.

The director of SOEP up to 1988 was Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Krupp, who as President of DIW Berlin and member of the SfB3 gave home to SOEP at DIW Berlin.
In 1989, Prof. Gert G. Wagner took over as director, and left the position in 2011 to join the executive board of DIW Berlin.
www.diw.deDas SOEP wurde 1983 als Teilprojekt des von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft ( DFG ) geförderten Sonderforschungsbereichs 3 ( Sfb 3 ) „ Mikroanalytische Grundlagen der Gesellschaftspolitik “ gegründet, der an den Universitäten Frankfurt / Main und Mannheim angesiedelt war.
Leiter des Projektes war bis 1988 Prof. Dr. Hans-Jürgen Krupp, der als Präsident des DIW und Mitglied im Sfb 3 dem SOEP am DIW Berlin eine Heimat gab.
Im Jahr 1989 übernahm Prof. Dr. Gert G. Wagner ( TU Berlin ) die Leitung, bis er 2011 in den Vorstand des DIW Berlin wechselte.
