During his stay he bought many ceramic articles, among others from Wedgwood, which were to serve as inspiration for the modellers and designers in the family ’ s own faience factories in Septfontaines and Mettlach.
Eugen von Boch later expanded the family collection with other purchases, first making mention of the word " museum " in connection with the purchase of a collection of Rhenish stoneware from Belgium in 1851.
