Instead of a triple mirror ( three mirrors in the form of a cube corner ) which is usually used in an interferometer, the reflector consists of three single mirrors which are arranged on the surface of an imaginary cube.
A material measure to be tested (e.g. a measuring tape) lies in the center of the reflector on the measuring axis of the interferometer by which Abbe errors are minimized.
