The BVL is involved in the case of the active substance methyl bromide when used for plant protection purposes (the last authorisation expired on 31.12.1990 in Germany) and storage protection (the last authorisations expired on 31.10.2002).

In their lab experiments, they had discovered that mixing aluminum alkyls and titanium tetrachloride initiated the polymerization of ethylene to polyethylene at room temperature – the basis for the first Ziegler catalyst had been found.

Bei ihren Experimenten im Labor hatten sie entdeckt, dass die Mischung von Aluminiumalkylen und Titantetrachlorid die Polymerisation von Ethylen zu Polyethylen schon bei Raumtemperatur in Gang bringt – die Grundlage für den ersten Ziegler-Katalysator war gefunden.
