Bei der Musikalisierung des Altgriechischen waren zwei Probleme zu bewältigen: die semantische Unverständlichkeit des Texts und die in die Musik nicht übernehmbare Versbindung der Sprache.
Orff setzt die Sprache von den Längen und Kürzen der Wortgestalt und von den Bindungen des Wort- und Versakzents weitgehend frei.
