Die Schartenspitze ist der zweithöchste, jedoch formschönste und zugleich am schwierigsten erreichbare Gipfel im Grimmingstock.
Der westlich der Scharte aufragende Felsturm hat im Gipfelbereich eine steile Felsplatte und wirkt insgesamt kühn geformt.
Die Schartenspitze wurde im Jahre 1888 erstmals von Dr. Eduard Suchanek mit Matthäus Lieber vlg. Hiesl bestiegen.
