Ein Spinnenfaden - hier das Bild einer Kreuzspinne in ihrem Netz - ist einem Metalldraht gleicher Dicke in mancher Hinsicht überlegen.
Nachdem Forscher des Max-Planck- Instituts für Mikrostrukturphysik ihn mit Metallionen infiltriert haben, hält der doppelt genommene Faden sogar einen 27,5 Gramm schweren Würfel, drei Mal mehr als ein natürlicher Faden.
