www.rolandberger.de2012 machten die Exporte 43 Prozent des deutschen Bruttoinlandsprodukts ( BIP ) aus.
Der Leistungsbilanzüberschuss lag bei etwa 170 Milliarden Euro oder 6,4 Prozent des BIP – und im ersten Halbjahr 2013 überschritt er den Wert von 7 Prozent. Nun hat Deutschland seit 1952 regelmäßig mehr exportiert als importiert.
Doch während sich die Überschüsse lange Zeit innerhalb von ein, zwei bis höchstens vier Prozent des BIP bewegten, stiegen sie nach der Jahrtausendwende auf Werte über sechs Prozent - und halten sich dort hartnäckig.

The current account surplus equaled approx. EUR 170 billion or 6.4% of GDP – and in the first six months of 2013 this rose to over 7%. Germany has regularly exported more than it has imported since 1952.
However, whereas these surpluses equaled at most 1-4% of GDP over longer periods of time, after the turn of the last millennium they rose to over 6% – and seem to be there to stay.
