Natürlich ist ein schönes Mädel viel fotogener als ein schmerzverzerrter Krüppel, aber diese groteske Falschdarstellung dieser Frau ist völlig daneben und hilft einem auch nicht, Fridas künstlerisches, gesellschaftliches und politisches Werk begreiflich zu machen.
Hier ist die Authentizität der vermeintlichen Ästhetik geopfert worden, und dafür gibt es einen dicken, fetten Minuspunkt.
Wenn Sie bereit sind, die Hauptperson völlig außer Acht zu lassen und in die Atmosphäre von Mexiko-Stadt vor etwa 80 Jahren einzudringen, dann wird Ihnen der Film sehr gut gefallen.
