Das erinnert mich auch an Frank Kameny, den großartigen Schwulenrechtler, der in den 60ern die ersten Proteste vorm Weißen Haus organisierte.
Er bestand darauf, dass sich alle Demonstranten in ihre besten Anzüge schmissen und als respektable Gemeindemitglieder auftraten, und nicht als die verwahrlosten Asis, die alle erwartet hatten.

This also reminds me of Frank Kameny, the late, great gay activist who initiated the first protests at the White House back in the 60s.
He insisted that everyone who marched be dressed in their nicest suits so that they all looked the same, like respectable members of the community and not the degenerates everyone thought they were.
