Wittlich wird Garnisonsstadt mit einer Infanterie- und einer Panzerjäger-Kaserne.
Nach Kriegsende werden die Gebäude zur Stationierung von zwei französischen Bataillonen benutzt; im Zuge der allgemeinen Truppenreduzierung verlässt im Sommer 1993 das Artilleriebataillon 51 mit 1.500 Soldaten und ihren Familien Wittlich.
Das 8. Jägerbataillon “ Sidi Brahim ” ( die “ Blauen Jäger ” ) mit rund 2.000 Soldaten und Familienangehörigen verbleibt bis 1999 als Teil des Euro-Corps am Standort, bis auch sie Wittlich verlassen.
