Gleichzeitig engagierte er sich als Vertrauensmann der IG Metall.
Seit 1994 ist er Mitglied des Sindelfinger Betriebsrats und nimmt verschiedene Aufgaben und Funktionen in der IG Metall auf örtlicher und bezirklicher Ebene wahr.
