Verschiedene Arten automatischer UAVs sind in der Entwicklung, die meisten sind leichte und kleine elektrisch betriebene, MASC (multi-purpose airborne sensor carrier) genannte Flugzeuge.
Sie wiegen ungefähr 4 kg, besitzen Batterien für ca. 1 Flugstunde und sind für bis zu 1 kg Nutzlast ausgelegt.
