In den frühen 1960er-Jahren verschob sich Brittins Fokus auf das Civil Rights Movement und auf die Bewegung gegen den Vietnamkrieg , am Ende des Jahrzehnts widmete er den Großteil seiner Zeit der Black Panther Party .

In the early sixties, the focus of Brittin’s life shifted dramatically when he became involved in the antiwar movement, and by the end of the decade he was devoting most of his time to the Black Panther Party.
