Um die Dimension des Schreckens von Zwangspsychiatrie zu verdeutlichen, ist es sehr sinnvoll, sich die aktuellen Folterdebatten in den USA und der BRD vor Augen zu führen : einerseits Abu Ghraib als Sinnbild für offenbar weltweit Dutzende von Folterzentren der US-Geheimdienste und andererseits die Eröffnung des Verfahrens gegen den Vizepräsidenten der Frankfurter Polizei Daschner.
In beiden Fällen scheint die offizielle Sprachregelung Bestand zu behalten, dass Folter ( im internationalen Fachjargon:„ cruel, degrading, inhumane treatment ” ) Verbrechen ist und bleibt.
