Doch was sind Graphic Novels eigentlich?
Als der vielseitige Comicautor Will Eisner seinen Comic " A contract with God " in den Siebzigerjahren auf dem Cover mit dem Zusatz versah, dass es sich dabei um eine " Graphic Novel " handelte, wollte er damit herausstellen, dass sein Comic als Literatur verstanden werden soll und die Geschichten sich an ein erwachsenes Lesepublikum richten.

When, in the 1970s, the multifaceted comics author Will Eisner added a sub-header to the cover of his comic, A Contract with God, describing it as a “ graphic novel ”, he was trying to make it clear that his comic should be seen as a work of literature, and that the stories in it were intended for an adult readership.
