Als Gewinner eines Wettbewerbs des französischen Bildungsministeriums 1949 für eine ländliche Schule, die reproduzierbar ist und sowohl Klassenräume als auch Lehrerunterkünfte beinhaltet, plante das Ateliers Jean Prouvé u.a. das Metropol- Aluminium Haus als Lehrerunterkunft.
Wie der Schulbau folgt die Unterkunft dem Portico-Prinzip, das 1939 von Jean Prouvé patentiert wurde.
Das Metropol- Aluminium Haus (Architekt Henri Prouvé) wurde 1948 fertig gestellt.
