Just as with the “Throw-Away” sofa designed by Willie Landels for the same manufacturer in 1965, the temporary nature of a formless polystyrene foam body with a synthetic covering is an expression of the desire for change as soon as one has grown tired of an object.
Even if the idea behind the “Blow” armchair stems from an inflatable boat, the armchair required that a new production technology be created, because PVC cannot be glued like Neoprene.
