Der „ Carnevale Nebiopoli “ ist die wichtigste und grösste Fasnachtsveranstaltung im Sottoceneri, dem südlichen Kantonsteil.
Während der „ republikanischen Woche “ verwandeln Maskengruppen und Guggenmusiken die Strassen von Chiassos Innenstadt in ein Vergnügungsviertel.
Der Höhepunkt findet jeweils am Fasnachtsdienstag statt, also kurz vor der Rückkehr des Alltags:

During the “ republican week ” masked groups and “ Guggen ” turn Chiasso ’ s town centre into an entertainment quarter.
The highlight takes place on the Tuesday of carnival, shortly before returning to everyday life: numerous carriages, groups and bands take part in the big parade which crosses Chiasso ’ s streets.
