Nachdem das Wissenschaftsthema von der ESA jetzt festgelegt wurde, gilt es, die von den europäischen Röntgenastronomen in den vergangenen zehn Jahren entwickelten Pläne für den Satelliten weiter zu verfeinern und ein endgültiges Konzept für die Mission zu erstellen.
Da das Athena-Team das Thema vorgeschlagen hat und als einziges Team in Europa auch über die erforderlichen Technologien verfügt , sind die Wissenschaftler zuversichtlich , dass dabei sie das Rennen machen werden .
Die Entscheidung dazu wird die ESA voraussichtlich im Jahr 2014 treffen.

As the Athena team suggested the subject and since it is the only team in Europe with the required technology at their disposal, the scientists are confident that their concept will win.
ESA is expected to make this decision in 2014.
