Born in Beirut in 1967, a Palestinian refugee, he started to become interested in music while he was still living there.
He took music lessons, which brought him into contact with new musical forms, with theatre and sprechgesang.
He saved up to buy himself his first Arab lute, an oud, and in 1983 joined a group with which he then played for the next two years.
