Der Nachwuchsgruppenleiter Matthias Brock konnte zeigen, wie sich der Stoffwechsel des krankheitserregenden Pilzes Aspergillus fumigatus an das Wachstum im menschlichen Gewebe angepaßt hat und insbesondere dessen Proteine zur Infektion nutzt.

Second prizes went to Matthias Brock , Peter Hortschansky , Mihály Józsi , Stefani Strobel and Robert Winkler .
Matthias Brock, head of the junior research group, could show how the metabolism of the pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus has to adjust to conditions within the human host and how the fungus uses its proteins for infection.
