Allotment und Critical Mass beschäftigen sich auf dialektisch unterschiedliche Weise mit dem kollektiven Körper:
hier Körperformen, die fallen oder fallengelassen werden und ein chaotisches Feld der Hoffnungslosigkeit bilden;

Allotment and Critical Mass approach the collective body in dialectically different ways:
body-forms falling or dropped, forming a chaotic and abject field, and void concrete cases arranged in a strict city grid.
www.kunsthaus-bregenz.atMit seiner radikalen Erforschung des Körpers als Ort der Erinnerung und der Transformation betreibt Antony Gormley seit nunmehr 25 Jahren die Neubelebung des Menschenbildes in der Skulptur - unter Einsatz des eigenen Körpers als Thema, Werkzeug und Arbeitsmaterial.
Seit 1990 gilt sein erweitertes Interesse am Zustand des Menschseins der Erforschung des kollektiven Körpers und der Beziehung zwischen dem Selbst und dem Anderen in groß angelegten Installationen wie Allotment und Critical Mass, die beide in diesem Sommer im KUB präsentiert werden.
An die Stelle von Masse und definiertem Volumen tritt in Gormleys aktuellen Werken zunehmend die Auseinandersetzung mit Energiesystemen, - feldern und - vektoren.

Since 1990 he has expanded his concern with the human condition to explore the collective body and the relationship between self and other in large-scale installations like Allotment and Critical Mass, both of which will be presented at KUB this summer.
Gormley’s recent work increasingly engages with energy systems, fields and vectors, rather than mass and defined volume.
