Neben Harvard-Professor Tobias Ritter , der künftig als weiterer Direktor ans Institut wechselt , berichteten Avelino Corma , Lynn Gladden , Eric Jacobsen sowie Max-Planck-Direktor Frank Neese über ihre Arbeit .
Ergänzend zu diesen zentralen Feierlichkeiten gab es bereits über das ganze Jahr hinweg Veranstaltungen, die die Bürger Mülheims und aus der Umgebung besser mit dem Institut und der Arbeit vor Ort vertraut machten – darunter eine Reihe von Vorträgen sowie ein Tag der offenen Tür.

In addition to these main celebrations, various events took place all year to better acquaint the citizens of Mülheim and the surrounding area with their Institute and its work, by means of a series of lectures, as well as an Open Day.

In Konstanz studierte und promovierte Frank Neese zunächst in Biologie , als Postdoktorand forschte er in Stanford , bevor er sich 2001 mit knapp 33 Jahren wiederum in Konstanz für Bioanorganische Chemie und Theoretische Chemie habilitierte und anschließend Gruppenleiter am Max-Planck-Institut für Bioanorganische Chemie in Mülheim / Ruhr wurde .
