Die Probandinnen wurden vor Beginn des Experiments anhand eines Standardverfahrens (Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility) in mittelgut hypnotisierbar und weniger gut hypnotisierbar eingeteilt;
rund die Hälfte der Bevölkerung ist mittelgut hypnotisierbar.
