Die europäische Produktionsstatistik basiert auf einer einheitlichen Güterklassifikation, die auch als Prodcom-Liste bezeichnet wird und insgesamt ca. 4500 Produktkategorien umfasst.
Jeder Produktkategorie ist ein bestimmter achtstelliger Code zugeordnet.
