Contemporary architect Peter Zumthor designed this unusual Swiss contribution to the World Exhibition of 2000 in Hanover.
His “Switzerland sounding box” (Klangkörper Schweiz) was built from three thousand cubic metres of wood from Swiss larch and spruce trees, held together by steel wires.
Not a single nail or screw was necessary for its construction.

Bachmann worked initially as a freelance journalist (Das Magazin, DU, among others) and participated for two years in Peter Zumthor’s concept for “Klangkörper Schweiz,” the Swiss pavilion for the World Exhibition in Hannover.
Apart from several theatre plays, he has developed literature projects as well as conceptual work for Swiss television.
