Im Küstenteil Sloweniens hat der Karneval mit Umzügen, Kinderfesten und Maskenbällen sowie mit der historischen Verbundenheit mit Venedig und den dortigen Karnevalsbräuchen ebenfalls eine lange Tradition.
Im Rahmen des Programms "365 Tage Riviera" wird der Karneval in Portorož ähnlich wie in Opatija im Zeichen der Kleinräder stehen, statt Kugellager dreht sich hier jedoch alles auf und um Rollschuhe.
