What Dare is aware of, however, is that his working conditions and his life have improved since he has been involved in a development project headed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit ( GIZ ) on behalf of the German Government and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
This project is the African Cashew Initiative, or ACI, which runs from 2009 to 2013.
The aim is to make cashew nut production in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Benin, Mozambique and Côte d ’ Ivoire more competitive at all stages of the value chain, producing a sustainable reduction in poverty in these countries.
