The belgian Henry van de Velde, summoned to Weimar in 1902, brought the school even greater fame by founding a handicraft seminar in 1907.
The work of this school was influenced by the Jugendstil and by the ideas of the Artistic Renewal Movement, with its conjunction of craft and practice.
