The investigation of the identity of the small French Protestant minority shows that they have to hold together their different milieus : the high metastability, the social individualism, commitment to the ideals of the Lumières, human rights, the republic, secularism and tolerance.
Both the “ Progressisten ” as well as the representatives of the reactivation of the we-identity and the “ Evangelikalen ” and “ Pfingstler ” adhere to those common ideals.
The emphasis on the spirit of resistance ( resister! ) by the French Protestant is not only the consequence of their history of persecution.
