The male of the Red-breasted Flycatcher with its orange-red throat patch reminds one of a European Robin, it distinguishes itself, however, by its typical tail pattern.
This smallest European flycatcher is a rare visitor to our country and bred for the first time in the Prättigau in eastern Switzerland in 2003, which was a consequence of the brood discovered 30 years previously in neighbouring Vorarlberg.
