This originates from the Roman times, meaning “ Alm ”, “ mountain ” and is still used in today ’s Ötztal dialect.
Due to its location Niederthai is known as the “untere Alm”.
The Ötztaler dialect dates back over 900 years of tradition and with its 8.000 to 15.000 native speakers, is quite unique with its characteristics.
