Wie konservativ eine Sekundärstruktur sein kann, ergibt ein Vergleich der rRNS aus Chloroplasten grüner Pflanzen mit der aus Blaualgen : beide Strukturen weisen einen extrem hohen Homologiegrad auf und wie wir anschließend noch sehen werden, gehören diese Daten zu den sichersten Stützen der Endosymbiontenhypothese.
Andererseits zeigt die Analyse der rRNS, daß es gewaltige Unterschiede zwischen Archaebakterien und Eubakterien gibt und daß die Variabilität der rRNS innerhalb der Archaebakterien weit größer als innerhalb der Eubakterien ist.
Unter Zusammenfassung aller an rRNS gewonnenen Daten ist zu schließen, daß sich im Verlauf der Diversifikation der Organismen schon sehr früh drei voneinander getrennte Evolutionslinien herausgebildet haben, von denen eine zu den Archaebakterien, die andere zu den Eubakterien und die dritte zu den Eukaryoten geführt hat.
