Zu seiner Zeit wurde das Gebäude neben der Konditorei abgebrochen und an seiner Stelle ein Café im Neo-Rokokko-Stil gebaut.
Es war eine Sehenswürdigkeit seiner Zeit, gab es doch bereits Dampfheizung und elektrisches Licht, das man im eigenen Elektrizitätswerk erzeugte.
Kurz nach der Jahrhundertwende wurde das Café erstmals „Wiener Café“ genannt.
