Entsteht eine neue Idee oder Erfindung an der Hochschule, meldet der Erfinder diese an die Hochschule.
Die Hochschule entscheidet dann, ob es sich um eine so genannte Diensterfindung handelt oder ob sie die Erfindung an den Erfinder frei gibt.
Dafür werden die Erfindungen zunächst formal durch das Forschungszentrum und anschließend eingehend durch die PROvendis GmbH geprüft.

The university then decides if it is a so-called service invention or if it releases the invention to the inventor.
Therefore inventions are in the first instance formally checked by the Research Centre and subsequently assessed, in detail, by the PROvendis GmbH.
