Seit dem Beginn des Laufes 2005 kamen so schon über 110.000 Euro für den guten Zweck zusammen.

Der Rat der Stadt Duisburg hat am 11. Juni 2007 die Verwaltung mit der Neuaufstellung des Flächennutzungsplans sowie mit der Einleitung eines Prozesses der nachhaltigen Stadtentwicklung, d.h. einer gesamtstädtischen, strategischen Planung mit einem Zeithorizont von 15 bis 20 Jahren beauftragt.
Anlass waren die fehlende Aktualität des derzeit gültigen Flächennutzungsplans aus dem Jahr 1986 sowie die geänderten wirtschaftlichen, sozialen, umweltbezogenen und globalen Rahmenbedingungen, die auf die Stadt Duisburg einwirken.

On June 11 2007 the City Council of Duisburg commissioned the administration to restructure the land-use plan on the one side, and on the other side to induce the process of a sustainable city development - which means a spatially comprehensive and strategic plan. The time frame for this process was set at 15 to 20 years.
The occasion to do so had been that during this time currently applicable land use plans' were missing timelines from the year 1986, as well as the changed economical, social, environmental and global conditions, which are affecting the City of Duisburg.
