Der Weg vom Latschenfeld zum Loser hinauf ist nicht so steil, dafür quert man den Hang und der Weg hat auf einigen Metern ein starkes seitliches Gefälle.
Kurz vor dem Gipfel des Losers geht man noch an einer imposanten Felssäule vorbei bevor man nach 3,3 Kilometern das Gipfelkreuz am kleinen Hochplateau des Loser auf 1.837m erreicht.
Am Loser hat man eine besonders gute Aussicht nach Osten ins Tote Gebirge, nach Süden mit Dachsteingletscher, Altaussee mit dem Altausseersee und nach Westen bis zum Schafberg, Wolfgangsee, Mondsee, Gosaukamm u.v.m Auch einige schneebedeckte Gipfel rund um den Großglockner sind zu erkennen.
