Man legte bereits den berühmten Feuergürtel (ununterbrochenes zielloses Abschießen von MG-Munition in einem Bereich, so dass Infanterie und Pferde nicht durchkommen, nur Panzer).
Die Russen standen also schon 2 km hinter uns, sie kamen in Massen mit Pferden, daher war der Feuergürtel militärisch sinnvoll.

The Russians were already 2 kilometers behind us and they came in masses and with horses, thus the curtain of fire made military sense.
